Lance Machovsky has owned and operated the Bear Valley Sport Shop since 1990. His understanding of the importance of well-chosen, properly fit equipment and clothing was gleaned in his prior career as a professional mountain guide, leading climbing and ski trips around the world. His attention to detail and constant experimentation led him to develop the shop into one of the premier bootfitting shops in the west. Lance’s two daughters have grown up ski racing and when not in the shop he can often be found on the side of a racecourse, or in the wax room attending to their race skis.

Mike Davis came to Bear Valley Sport Shop from a career as the technical director at Bear Valley Mountain Resort for more than 20 years. His vast understanding of equipment, bootfitting and tuning is only surpassed by his passion for skiing. When Mike is not at work, he is always skiing. he's also been a Grand Canyon dorie guide for 40 years.

Kira Krayk has a BA in literature. She was virtually born on skis in BV. Attended Bear Valley Elementary. Was a ski instructor for 3 years. She is friendly and enthusiastic, expert bootfitter. She can help you find the right skis for the job.

The rest of our staff are avid skiers and boarders who are happy to share their local knowledge and expertise with you.

We are here to help you enjoy our corner of the Sierra Nevada, and the mountains in general, to their fullest. The products we sell, the knowledge we share and the services we provide are all offered with that in mind. We are a professional ski and snowboard shop.
